The Thunderbird

Native American folklore speaks of a shaman’s ability to shapeshift into Thunderbird - a powerful creature with the ability to summon thunder,lightning and possessing great wisdom and strength.

Before their transformation, the shaman would feast with their tribe. The feast was always accompanied by wild potatoes that were thinly sliced and cooked in the renderings of the beast.

Year 1 - Spring

Cattle Grazing Phase:

• Introduce cattle into designated grazing paddocks.
• Allow cattle to graze on pasture composed of diverse grasses and legumes.
• Implement rotational grazing practices to prevent overgrazing and promote soil health.

• Monitor pasture health and adjust grazing intensity as needed.

Transition Phase:

• Prepare designated fields for potato planting.
• Implement cover cropping in grazing paddocks to improve soil fertility and structure.
• Use leguminous cover crops (e.g., clover, vetch) to fix nitrogen and add organic matter to the soil.

Year 2 - Winter

Potato Cultivation Phase:

• Plant potatoes in the prepared fields.
• Choose potato varieties suited to the local climate and soil conditions.
• Practice minimal tillage to preserve soil structure and minimize erosion risk.
• Implement mulching to conserve soil moisture and suppress weed growth.

Year 2 - Spring

Potato Growth Phase:

• Monitor potato crop for pests and diseases, implementing integrated pest management strategies as needed.
• Implement irrigation practices to ensure optimal potato growth and tuber development.
• Apply organic fertilizers as required based on soil nutrient analysis.

Year 2 - Summer

Harvest and Post-Harvest Phase:

• Harvest mature potatoes once tubers have reached the desired size and maturity.
• Store harvested potatoes in suitable conditions to maintain quality and reduce wastage.
